historic-preservationInterview on Historic Preservation

Steve Chambers is a Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas-based residential architect and President of Stephen B. Chambers Architects Inc., his architectural firm specializing in custom home design, remodeling, and historic renovation. Steve Chambers is a licensed architect and licensed interior designer with over 35 years of experience. His distinctive designs have won many awards and have been seen in many national publications. From Texas Ranch to Modern to English Cotswold homes, Steve Chambers' architecture is timeless, elegant, and suited to fit the individual needs and desires of each client. "Creating the feeling of home has nothing to do with a house's size, nor does it require a particular style. It has to do with the character, quality, and details within the three-dimensional space. Hiring an architect accomplishes this for the client and creates a structure that can inspire its inhabitants everyday."

English-designInterview on English Design

Steve has intentionally kept his Dallas architectural firm small since 1975 so that he can work closely with each client through every phase of the design process. Steve engages his clients in a collaborative, client-centered approach to the design of their homes. It is a core value for the firm that what evolves from this process is far more relevant to the needs of his clients and forms the foundation for good architecture. Our firm collaborates with the clients throughout the process. Without this, the architect's work is mere decoration of the landscape and an extension of the ego of the architect. Stephen B. Chambers Architects, Inc. also believes in using the principles of Sustainable Design and Universal Design. The architect's responsibility is first to the client, but he is also mindful of the community and the world as a whole.

As a licensed architect, licensed interior designer, and former general contractor, Steve understands how each of these disciplines must come together to achieve a balanced and unified result.
